wait at first i was disappointed i didn't get the happy ending i expected of daeyoung leaving sacred heart and finding riku sooner i guess? can you blame a girl for wanting her dopamine hit. but this is so much more realistic and i'm a sucker for a good failed first love story AND ACTUALLY THEY DIDN'T FAIL THEY STILL ENDED UP TOGETHER SO.

When an expedition gone wrong leaves Kaveh with three days to live, Alhaitham and Cyno fight to find the cure while Tighnari fights to buy them time.

Kaveh couldn’t look at a sketchbook for months after Alcazarzaray, exhausted in the most human definition of the word. Alhaitham didn’t push him about rent that month, or the month after. Kaveh was trying, but his heart needed to rest as much as his wrists, and if Kaveh wasn’t careful he’d make the damage permanent.
“You were right,” Kaveh told him one night, collapsed and dead-eyed over the couch with his head in his hands. “Ever since Alcazarzaray, I—I haven’t been able to make a single thing, and… what if I can’t create anymore?” His hands shook as he stared at them like he’d never seen his own wrists before. “What if it—what if it really did ruin me?”
“You aren’t ruined,” Alhaitham answered, pretending to flip through a book. “You’re exhausted. Give it time.”
Kaveh snorted humorlessly. “What do you know about art?” he snapped, hurt. “All you know is—is logic, and words, and practicalities and statistics and—”
“And you,” Alhaitham said. Kaveh’s jaw clamped shut with an audible sound. “You need time. So take time.”
