“ I won’t be alone! I have a date!” Why did he say that? He doesn’t have a date. He’s been wallowing in self pity for the last few months completely alone.
Aiden sounds skeptical, “You have a date? You?” Mack thinks that maybe he should be offended at how doubtful Aiden sounds. But, he wouldn’t believe him either.
“Yes, I have a date, you jerk. He’s my boyfriend,” Another lie.
“Since when do you have a boyfriend?” Aiden asks, and his voice has hardened.
“...Since..two months ago?” He’s a terrible liar.

In order to save face in front of his ex-fiance, Mack lies and says that he's bringing his boyfriend. He doesn't have a boyfriend. So, when Will Smith crashes into his life, Mack comes up with the perfect plan. Will can be his "boyfriend" for the week. But when feelings begin to grow, Mack begins to question everything he ever thought. But, Will just sees it as a business arrangement, right?
