Miya was still standing on the same spot, now looking up directly at the camera with a soft smile.
“Don’t you want to try solving the riddles, Atsumu?”
Atsumu grinned at this.“Nah, not really. Stuff like that is boring to me. Talking to ya is more fun!”
(Or: Kiyoomi is an escape room game master and reluctantly takes over a session with a bachelor party group. The best man seems to be more interested in him than the riddles.)

Summary
Retired from volleyball, married, parents to two kids, 55-year-olds Kiyoomi and Atsumu follow their best friends the Iwaizumis to Palm Springs. In between reminiscences of the past thirty years spent together, they have adventures in gardening, competitions in water aerobics, and fights over groceries.
“Cucumbers look good,” Atsumu said, squinting at the closest wooden box.
“Those are zucchini,” Kiyoomi replied. “Why aren’t you wearing your glasses?”
“Don’t need ‘em,” Atsumu grumbled.
“That’s not what the eye doctor said.” It was a familiar argument. Atsumu didn’t wear his glasses unless he absolutely had to. Which was a shame, because they looked so nice on him. Made him look distinguished.
“They make me look old.”
“You are old,” Kiyoomi said, without malice or bite. It wasn’t an insult, simply a fact. Atsumu wasn’t alone in that fact, they were both old. Retired in a desert oasis, living their best lives. Old was peaceful. Old was fun.

“What I need from you is simple. My father recently retired, and the company is being passed down to myself with my older siblings having partial shares. However, because I am being named CEO that means in the near future I must attend dinners with our business partners, and small events with other companies we work with. I would need you to be my date to these events. It’ll help my image if I have a date and improve it significantly if it is the same one to each event.
I’ve written out the terms of our arrangement. You don’t have to agree to anything right now, and nothing is set in stone either. Everything in there is flexible, I can change whatever you need to make this more comfortable for you.” Sakusa holds out a folder for Atsumu.
He takes it, flipping through the papers inside. “Uh, okay. I’m gonna look it over more at home and I can get back to ya?”
“Yes of course, take all the time you need.” Sakusa says sincerely.
Once he’s in the car and on the way to his apartment Atsumu finally opens the envelope Kiyoomi gifted him after dinner. He chokes on his own spit when he pulls out the bundle of cash.
It’s over double his monthly rent.

He wants to deny it, because that is what he has been doing all his life. Every time someone asked, he’d tell them they were wrong.But something about Atsumu, about the evening, about the city around him has made Kiyoomi more honest, less caring. So instead of running and hiding like he’s used to, he stares right down at golden eyes that are looking up at him.

1995, Japan's economy is in shambles, the future looks grim and Kiyoomi decides to look for opportunities in France. Why France, he has no idea, but as he meets bright, headstrong and beautiful Atsumu playing volleyball on Marseille's beaches, he slowly starts to understand

“I wanna do this with you,” he says, and the earnestness in his voice sends a bolt of electricity right through Kiyoomi. “I wanna hear you read it, and I wanna do whatever it says to you. For example, this sentence right here—”He kissed slowly down my throat, grazin' his teeth along my collarbone, before circlin' his tongue around my nipple”—I’ll do that to you, word for word.”
Kiyoomi extends his palm. “Give me the book.”
“Fine,” Atsumu says with a sigh. “Maybe we can try that some other time, and tonight—”
“Give it to me,” Kiyoomi clarifies, “so I can read it to you. I want to start on the previous page.”
Atsumu walks in on Kiyoomi reading erotica and happily volunteers to reenact the scenes while Kiyoomi reads them. It's exciting and hot and new, but more than anything Kiyoomi is terrified when he is forced to confront what is real and what is fiction about being friends with benefits.

Summary
As Sakusa turns around to face Atsumu, their faces close enough to almost touch. His hand doesn’t move off his waist.
“I’m sorry Omi, I don’t even know why I did that. Go back to sleep and I’ll move to the floor.” Atsumu starts to pull his hand away until Sakusa reaches out and rests his hand on his chest.
“Atsumu shut up for 5 seconds,” he nods, “You didn’t wake me up. I never fell asleep, I couldn't with you just staring at my back and then you started running your fingers along my spine and I didn’t know what to do so I just stayed there.”
Atsumu starts smiling, causing Sakusa to stop.
“What?”
“You called me Atsumu.”

Sakusa scoffs, keeps his mouth sealed, too scared the “I’ve got a thing for you” will tumble out of his lips if he doesn’t.

Sakusa Kiyoomi is the best forensic anthropologist in the World, which owns him full freedom working at the Mesoterian. Despite preferring to study ancient remains and identify victims in mass graves, he is consistently being asked by different law enforcement organizations to consult with them. After his last fiasco with the CIA he vowed to never consult again, however when Agent Miya brings a set of remains that hit close to home for Sakusa, he has no other option but to work with the obnoxious agent to find the truth.
How difficult can it be to work with —an admittedly hot— FBI Agent?
The Sakuatsu Bones AU nobody asked for but I couldn't stop thinking about!
