Yachi picks at a hangnail, eyes fixed on the floor, and finally says what's been on her mind all along. “But doesn’t it bother you too? I mean, Kiyoko-san choosing him ahead of you?”
Nishinoya shrugs. “I always knew she would choose Ryu over me.” His mouth twists into a half-smile, fingers drumming his thigh. “Those two, yeah, anyone could see she liked him more, if they looked closely.”
“So why…” Yachi hesitates, unsure of how to phrase her question.
“So why chase after her, right?” Yachi nods, a little red in the face, and Nishinoya laughs. It is, she notices, a gentler laugh than she’s ever heard from him before. “It is always fun to chase something you can’t have, Yachi-san.”
A beat, while Yachi collects her thoughts. Nishinoya’s expression is a little faraway, somehow nostalgic, and so uncharacteristic of him that it makes her feel like–
“It’s not Kiyoko-san you’re thinking of when you say that, are you?”

Carved into the left wall of the roofless temple on the top of a hill, there are two names, a date, and a crudely cut heart in stone. They're barely visible after what seems like years of withstanding the elements, but when you look at them and in your cold, hypoxic, severely under-oxygenated state, you can imagine the two boys collapsing against the wall, pulling out a knife, marking the shrine with their names. Permanently. Forever.

Daenerys took a breath, and asked the question that had plagued her ever since leaving King’s Landing. “Your brother, the king, only lost his betrothed, and he hates me. Eddard Stark lost over half his family because of mine, and yet he will welcome me as his kin?” Her voice rose at the last, as she was no longer able to hide her disbelief, her fear.
“Ned Stark is a man of honor,” Stannis said. “He has no interest in avenging his family by tormenting you.” Unlike the king, neither of them said aloud.

The gaoler gives a rough shake of his head. “They sail under the king’s banners.”
