Here, in this moment, she doesn’t feel so little anymore. She feels the same feeling she felt when she would spread her arms, wide enough until her muscles stung, over the snowy asphalt with Dess.
The water is blisteringly cold, and she can barely keep moving her legs. Kris’s warm hands, almost searing her fur with their heat, ground her in the present. Kris, covering her upturned palms with their own, is the only one that can guide her.
Noelle feels a bed of leaves at her thighs, stockings clinging to her fur. She sees them scattered across the surface of the water like fallen rubies.
“The water’s nice… isn’t it, Kris?” She murmurs with a smile that doesn’t meet her eyes.

“Sesshomaru-sama, would you like some?”
Tonight’s concoction was a melange of herbs, root vegetables, and fish chucks rendered unidentifiable after being simmered together in a broth of steeped seaweed. Rin had an industriousness about her that Sesshomaru had never appreciated before. Then again, perhaps it was new. This act of creation was performed with evident relish. Thick steam wafted from the pot and her eyes closed in rapture, the aroma a source of undeniable pleasure. Scent defined Sesshomaru’s perception. Generally, he found Rin to be oblivious to smells, but every now and again, her nose surprised him.
“Human food is not to my taste.”
“You haven’t even tried it!” Playfulness kept any real reproach from Rin’s tone, but Sesshomaru could nevertheless detect some unquantifiable disappointment.

Rin returns to Sesshomaru's entourage as an accomplished cook. Unfortunately, they have very different appetites.

It was no secret that she enjoyed a bit of pampering where she could get it. Inuyasha was resourceful when it came to the challenge of finding ways to bring the comforts of Heisei to the feudal era. He once reclaimed a rice pot large enough to cook food for an entire army so that Kagome could have hot baths. Much as she loved to soak, it wasn’t the luxury she chased – it was the feeling.

With Inuyasha out of town, pregnant Kagome needs something to keep her mind off of her anxieties. So, she and Rin take a girls' trip to Sesshomaru's house.
(Naturally, a good brother-in-law will violently conquer a castle so that you have a place to visit.)

“Grace have freezing body temperature.” Rocky said matter-of-factly, “Grace beautiful and lonely and fragile. Grace skin organ flimsy and light like snow. Grace could kill Rocky with freezing touch or kiss.”
And Rocky would let him, thank him even, for his touch like burning ice. So-Cold-It-Burns with oxygenated flames for lips and long fingers like burrowing needles of ice, but it would be touch.

Ryland Grace spends years in space falling in love with his best friend and keeping it secret, convinced Rocky could not possibly feel the same. Rocky, always on the same page, is conducting identical research.
