Summary
The room tilted slightly, and Shane’s throat was raw.
He swayed there a moment, scanning the spinning room for somewhere to steady himself – for Haas or Dykstra. Ilya had been right; he should have slowed down, stayed with his teammates. He hadn't listened, and now he was alone, 2 Moscow Mules and 3 shots deep, stuck at the bar and lost in a sea of people.
Shane just wanted his husband. The alcohol hadn't done anything to soften the effects of the music and lights encircling him. He felt trapped – suffocated – like his skin was fusing itself to his stiff muscles. The room spun faster, and the Canadian wasn't convinced he was standing upright anymore. His heart pounded in his ears as the music rattled his ribcage once more, an insatiable itch beckoning his blunt fingernails.
He wanted to scream. He wanted to rip his hair out. He wanted to tear his clothes off.
He wanted Ilya.

And deep down, Ilya knows how Comeau figured it out. It's what he's been worried about since the cottage.
He can no longer hide the way he looks at Shane.
He'd tried so carefully to school his features into something indifferent. Ilya has always been proud of how stoic and neutral he can make his features. He considers it his Slavic superpower.
But then Shane had made a pass to Comeau that was so fucking quick and brilliant that Ilya hadn't even seen it coming. He'd glanced over to look at Shane and he had felt so much love and admiration towards his boyfriend at that moment. It had taken him a beat or two to replace it with a look of indifference.
Or, Ilya accidentally outs his and Shane's relationship to their teams after he kicks Comeau's ass on the ice because he insults Shane. Both men spend a few days together in domestic bliss while they figure out how to navigate the situation. Things escalate quickly. But like... In a loving way.
