Summary
He remembers the first time he showed up to a practice and saw George. He was out on the ice before practice, doing lazy laps around the rink. When he spotted Dream walking into the arena, he picked up his pace, showing off for the two of them a little before sliding to a stop by the gate.
He pulled his helmet off and nods at Dream, who had been coming by the rink for the summer after he graduated, meeting some of the players before the season started in October, so they’d met a few times and from what Dream had told him, they’d “get along swimmingly.”
Except that as soon as George’s eyes turned to Sapnap, awkwardly standing half behind Dream, he said,
“Your friend is kind of short for a hockey player.”

"They haven’t left us alone together in months," Sapnap murmurs, mostly to himself, as he sits across from George at the fire. They've taken a break on their manhunt at a village shrouded by overgrown trees, tucked against the side of a tall cliffside.
George looks unimpressed as he holds his gaze, fire dancing in his eyes.
"Why would they," he asks. "You end up crying and I’m a bitch for a week after every time they do leave us for a second."

Summary
“I could tell you that.” George blurts out without meaning to, without thinking about, without his brain checking in to make sure he wasn’t fucking this up.
Sapnap looks stunned, like he doesn’t believe what George just said. He probably doesn’t. George doesn’t believe it.
“Tell me… tell me what?” He asks, clearing his throat in the middle as his voice cracks. Now it’s George’s turn to be nervous.
“That you’re good. And nice. And kind. And….. um. Whatever else you want to hear. I could do that.”
