Summary
There's some frantic footsteps, a thump, and then silence. Odd. She gets up to investigate, ball in hand, and finds Robby's office door cracked open, and through the windowed walls she sees the man himself. He's crumpled against the wall, shaking and humming, not even acknowledging her as she walks in. She walks over carefully, determining if this is just some emotional upheaval—maybe he just found out his dog died—or if it's something deeper.
OR
Trinity finds Robby having a panic attack and does the only things she can think, call his emergency contact. She shocked at who shows up to say the least. (Formula 1 Version)

Summary
When they’re finished she introduces him to the people working. The first is the guy he talked to when he first came in, Doug. He lays the charm on thick, especially towards Carol, but it doesn’t feel disingenuous. John absently wonders if they’re an item.
Then, out of the back comes a blond woman he’s seen popping around out of the corner of his eye, and Carol calls her over. “John this is Anna, she’s also newer-ish to the shop”
He holds out his hand to shake hers and introduce himself.
“Hey, nice to meet you,” she cuts her eyes over to Carol, grinning. “I didn’t know we were looking to hire accountants?”

Summary
Robby hasn’t felt so obvious and awkward since he sprang up five inches freshman year of high school. Here he stands in the middle of the doorway, bearing several tell-tales of a life upside down. He’s wide awake at 2 AM. He’s scruffy headed, and stuck wearing sweat pants a size too big for the weight he’s lost in recovery. Just the weight of his phone in his pocket would be enough to drag them down over his bruised and battered hip bones if he didn’t knot them up mercilessly. Robby stinks of Wet Ones and rinse-free shampoo. And to top it all off, he’s become completely, heart wringingly, affectionately incontinent.

Summary
As soon as Jack registers that there’s a person-sized shadow huddled on the front steps to his apartment, he knows that it’s Robby. He recognizes the contours of the body backlit by the bulb which illuminates the steps: short hair disarrayed, limned with gold in the light; the line of his throat, starkly pale beside the soft thick darkness of his beard; the defeated slope of his shoulders under the same green long-sleeved shirt he wore during his shift. Jack slows his pace as he approaches. Robby must notice him, the only figure on the empty street, but he doesn’t move.

Summary
It wasn’t the first time, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. It was ordinary, part of both their continued white-knuckled grip on the edge of life. Keeping it together. Sometimes you just couldn’t carry it alone. Sometimes you needed someone to stand by you, to fill the air with words until the world righted itself, to walk beside you back onto solid ground.
Sometimes, unfortunately, it was that person’s day off, and you had to drag yourself off the roof.
Jack kept drifting.
He wanted it all to stop.
He craved silence.
Stillness.
Darkness.
The world was too damn bright.
...
Jack has a rough night and goes to find Robby. Robby tries to keep Jack grounded, however he can.

Summary
“Jack,” she answered, nodding toward the window in Robby’s view. “He’s one of the most in-demand Doms here.”
Robby turned his full attention back to the room, shaking his head minutely at a creeping awareness as he took another look at the Dom’s build, his salt-and-pepper curls. The freckles dotting his fair skin. It wasn’t possible—
Then the Dom shifted his position, and Robby let out a shocked noise that attracted the attention of the others in his vicinity. The Dom in the play room—with his perfect composure and steady command—was Jack.

Summary
“I appreciate you sharing that with me,” Robby slowly says, picking his words with care. “Objectively, and with love, that’s the saddest defense of therapy I’ve ever heard.”
“It worked. How about I buy you a drink after each session? The bar’s close to the therapist’s office.”
“You’ve got better things to do on your day off.”
“Not really,” Abbot says, and he smiles at Robby’s surprise. “The nachos aren’t half bad.”
---
After months of ducking and digging in heels, Robby finally starts seeing a therapist. Abbot's therapist. It's inadvisable, sure, but it seems to be working. At least, until their deepening relationship dredges up feelings which Abbot thought had died with his husband.Bookmarked by cartersfrontlefttooth
