Summary
Eddie wastes no time in asking. “What’s happened?” because he knows, Eddie knows something isn’t right. Things have been peaceful in their lives for a moment too long. Of course it just has to happen when he’s miles away from wreckage, when there’s nothing he can do to stop whatever terrible thing it is that Karen has to tell him.
Karen sucks in sharply on the other end, Eddie hangs on to every word she says.
“E–Eddie, it’s about Bobby.”
Eddie holds his breath. His throat turning dry, nothing could have prepared him for this moment. “Bobby? What happened to Bobby?”
OR: Eddie gets the phone call about what happened to Bobby in the lab, and all he needs is to go home to Buck.

Summary
Eddie drops the hand pulling at the skin of his face and lets his eyes catch the letter again, lingering on the stance written for him. The cursive Buck haunts him, the delicate way his abuela wrote his name with Eddie’s.
She had prayed for him. She had prayed for him and Buck.
She had wanted him to find the happiness he sought in Buck—his best friend.
She knew before he did.
Mi niño, you were looking in the wrong place.
OR: When cleaning out her house, Eddie finds a prayer his abuela left for him.

Summary
"You and Buck should hold hands, too."
Eddie's palm clams up.
He sends a questioning look over Chris's head. "O-kay, yeah we…" He receives a shaky nod from Buck in return. "We can do that."
Eddie wipes his hand on his jeans, hoping the denim picks up the tension in his fingers along with the sweat.
"Nervous, probie?" Buck asks, eyebrow raised.
Eddie breathes out a definitely-not-nervous laugh. "Just give me your hand, Buckley."
Raft: an aggregation of animals (such as otters) resting on the water
OR: After the events of the tsunami, Chris confides in Eddie and Buck about his nightmares.

Summary
"What are you up to?"
Buck leans in and kisses him soundly, thumb stroking over the nape of Eddie's neck. "Nothing."
"Buck…" Eddie warns.
"Nothing, I swear!" He laughs, "Just wanted to do something nice for you. Is that a crime?"
Eddie squints at him wordlessly. He's up to something. He's definitely up to something.
Eddie supposes he's going to find out soon enough.
