Cedar’s breath shook, they adjusted the hilt of the sword in their hand.
“Yeah, well,” Cedar said, lifting the sword up and leveling it at their handler’s chest, “It’s worth a shot.”
Metal met magic in a horrible grinding sound that sent vibrations up Cedar’s arms and chattered their teeth. A knockback of energy sent them crashing into shelves across the room. A torrent of books and objects tumbled over their body and across the floor.
