Daniel asks Louis if he's sure when he first suggests it. He asks him again a few days later, to see if he's changed his mind. He makes a psychic collect call to Lestat, of all people, and asks if he's sure. Asks Armand if he's sure when he accepts the invitation, when they're packing, when they're on the way to the airport. When they're walking up to arrivals, Armand’s grip crushing Daniel's fingers, Louis smiling at the back of the crowd with his hands in his pockets, casual as anything, like they do this every day.
They're all sure and sure and sure, so Daniel lets Louis pull him in with one arm, Armand with the other, and hug them both while a planeful of tired New Yorkers filters out around them into the muggy bayou dark.

Armand sheds his shirt like a snake sheds his skin, leaving it discarded, and Daniel’s gaze slips down to the creature’s chest. He still looks so young, he thinks absentmindedly, chest strong and smooth and almost glowing under the light. Fuck, but he’s got pecs on him, it was already evident under the dress shirt, but now they’re on show.
It has to be a joke.
