Summary

“Naruto,” Hinata called, and then her wet hands were on his cheeks. Naruto froze, mid-punch, fist raised, and looked at her. There was still blood running down her cheek, almost like a tear. “You can stop now,” she said, so calmly like she wasn’t bleeding, like this fucker hadn’t just tried to- “You can stop now, it’s okay, it’s okay.”
“Hinata,” he said, barely recognising his own voice. “ Hinata .” His fist fell, and she let out a breath of relief, or worry, or whatever it was.

"Angry? I was never angry at you. Hinata," grabbing one of her hands tightly he looked her in the eye as he spoke, "I was worried out of my mind! I saw you standing there and when you started to fight Pein I was so damn scared I didn't know what to do! All I could do was just lay there and watch as he... as he..."
As his hands started shaking he released hers and gripped his knees tightly, his nails digging into his pants.
"You don't understand!" He said desperately, facing her again, "I couldn't do anything to protect you! I--I just had to sit there and just watch and I couldn't save you!"
