All Adrien wanted was to keep the peace and make sure everyone in his class stayed friendly. That was why he took the high road, held his tongue, and allowed Lila's lies to spread unchecked. He didn't think this was a big deal; sure, Marinette complained, but she'd endured just fine when he'd defended Chloe, so why would this be any different? And besides, who could be hurt by a couple of tall tales about celebrities and fake charitable work?
But karma is a stubborn thing. It can occasionally be deflected, such that a villain is protected from her well-deserved punishment, but it can never be truly stopped--especially when the Ladybug miraculous is involved. In those cases, if appropriate consequences cannot fall upon the villain herself, they inevitably descend upon the protector who upheld her lies, downplayed her cruelties, and shielded her from harm.
And by the time Adrien learns just what sort of punishment that Lila earned and that he must now endure, it may be far too late for him.

The window to Dick's apartment in Blüdhaven clicked open softly, and the young hero, bruised and bloody, practically fell through. He grunted when he was met with the floor, pushing himself up by his forearms. blood was dripping from his nose onto the floor, and he wasn't sure if he was feeling everything too much, or not able to feel anything anymore. He coughed harshly a few times, blood trailing down the side of his mouth too. Maybe the smart thing would've been to go to a hospital. He couldn't have handled that. His house was, safer. Well, anyone could probably let themselves in through the window, but still, he felt more safe.
OR, Dick gets hurt, badly, Jason helps. Dick doesn't understand that he's real for a while. Have I told you I suck at summaries?

Dick didn’t remember making it to Gotham. He’s still covered in blood, in spite of the rain. He runs a hand down his face and feels the tacky remnants of what he had done tonight clinging to his gloves and face.
He jolts up from the couch hearing the window open and shut again quietly. He glances over his shoulder in time to see the Red Hood stop in his tracks upon noticing Dick.

He wonders when Dick will finally let his anger out from between the cage of his teeth. It's there on the tip of his tongue and in the rigid straight posture of his back.
Bruce continues on, talking about civilian casualties and explosions but Jason isn't paying any attention to Bruce's meaningless rage. His focus is honed in on Dick, waiting, anticipating the eruption of words.
