Summary
Buck has never stayed anywhere long enough to call it home. As an unmated omega in a world that rarely lets omegas exist without being claimed, he’s learned to run at the first sign of danger. So when he transfers to the118, it’s supposed to be temporary. Just another stop. Just another place to survive. But the 118 isn’t like anywhere he’s been before.
Bobby offers steady, leadership without expectation. Hen and Ravi keep their instincts carefully leashed, treating Buck like a partner instead of something fragile. Chimney brings an easy, grounding presence, while Maddie—fierce, protective, and entirely done with Buck running—refuses to let her brother disappear again. Then there’s Eddie Diaz who has a quiet intensity and a deeply rooted sense of loyalty, where others offer space, Eddie offers presence—steady, unwavering, and increasingly impossible to ignore. For the first time, Buck begins to wonder what it might feel like to stay until his past catches up with him.
Caught between the instinct to flee and the unfamiliar pull of belonging, Buck must decide: keep running… or trust that this time, he won’t have to run at all.

Summary
While she waits for their coffee she feels a small tug on her pant leg as she’s checking her phone.
A small boy, maybe three or four, she’s not sure is looking up at her. His bottom lip is quivering, his wide blue eyes brimming with tears. Her maternal instincts want to reach out, cup his cheek, or pull him into a hug, just some way to offer him some comfort. To take away the fear in his eyes, but she pauses, at the mark over the boy’s eye. She’s not sure what it is, it could be a burn, it doesn’t look the right shape to be a fresh bruise.
Crouching down so she can be at his eye level with him she pitches her voice low, “Hey sweetie, my name is Athena. Could you tell me yours?”
“Evan,” his voice is so quiet she can barely hear him over the white noise of the mall.
“Ok Evan that’s really good, what about your last name, could you tell me that?”
“Buckley.”
“Well done sweetie, do you know where your parents are?”
“I lost my Bobby.” he reaches forward to fist his hand into the front of her shirt, pressing his body against hers. “Can you help me find him?”
Or
Evan wanders away from Bobby at the mall and gets lost, Athena helps him find his way back to Bobby.

Summary
Evan steps towards him, feet sliding on the floor, moving until he’s right in front of Bobby. Now that he’s closer, Bobby can see his blotchy face streaked with tears from eyes that are already welling again.
“Kiddo,” Bobby asks gently, “Did you have a bad dream?”
Evan shakes his head, teardrops spilling over onto his wet, rosy cheeks. He removes his thumb momentarily to speak in a quiet, raspy voice. “Hug?”
“Oh, buddy, c’mere.”
Or, Evan wakes up sick and upset. Hopefully Pops can help make everything better (even if some things are scary).
