What of El was able to save Max in enough time? What if the cracks never formed and the upside down didn’t bleed into the real world? What if instead of coming back to kill traumatized teenagers, Vecna comes back to inhabit the piece of the mind-flayer still inside Will.
Or Will gets possessed by Vecna but more similar to with the Mind flayed and more with his own free will.
Will Will’s friends and family be able to notice the signs before its to late or will Vecna corrup Will’s mind before they can save him.

Summary
Jake lost a piece of himself when he was told he'd never be able to walk again, an unfortunate hazard of the job. But when he was laying there in the hospital, he would dream of the stories his brother told him about Pandora. He'd have these recurring dreams of flying, feeling free. He wanted to feel that freedom again, and the Avatar Program could provide that.
It's why when he arrived on the indigenous moon he wasn't looking to be some counterspy for Colonel Miles Quaritch, and he certainly wasn't looking for a permanent place among the Na'vi. Jake only wanted to be free. He just never expected his training with the Omaticaya hunter Tsu'tey to alter the course of what he desired.
