He wants to spend all night playing video games, but he doesn't, because he should be well-rested enough to keep his job. He likes it when things are easy (things that aren't video games), and it's infinitely easier to be a hot Otaku than a fat one. Hot Otakus are desirable. You can overlook their idiosyncrasies. Something that would otherwise be creepy becomes endearing. Fat otakus, regardless of their personality, are social outcasts. Perverts. The kind of people that don't keep jobs and coworkers and cute childhood friends. So he sticks to the easy life - the shoulds.
