Rey can’t go to her professors with this spell. She needs help, though, needs someone to do the spell with her, and she needs the best because it’s tricky. Dangerous.
There’s a boy on campus. Powerful. Mysterious. He’s admired and envied, feared and loathed, depending on who’s talking, but for all everyone knows his story, no one seems to really know him. And Rey… Rey has been curious about him for… well, for longer than she wants to admit.

She was just arguing with him about how his antiquated thoughts of which classroom activities should be given priority were, in her exact words, utter horse crap. She called him an idiot. She hasn’t washed her hair in three days. Her shoes are knock-off Keds from Walmart.
She’s wearing overalls.
“I’m sorry, what?” she asks.
Ben, for his part, looks just as put together as he always does. “I asked if you wanted to get dinner tomorrow night. Seeing as how passionate you are about arts and crafts, I assume that food is something that you also consider important?”
The asshole is smirking.

She completely rips off one of the ideas by turning it into a DIY project, and despite the fact that hers is composed of pastel-colored post-it notes instead of laminated cardstock, it’s still cute.
Anyway, the only thing that really matters is that it’s functional. That her handwriting is legible.
