“Please— please—” Barry whines, not even sure what it is he’s asking for until it comes out of his mouth. “Can we just— stay?”
The last word catches in his throat in a painful hitch, his eyes and lungs burning with the immediate, absolute clarity of it. Yes. This is it. This is what he wants. This is all he wants, all he needs, and all he’ll ever ask for again. Feeling equal parts perfectly lucid and totally delirious, Barry tightens his arms around Fuches’s neck, his broken nose digging into the collar of the white t-shirt as he buries himself in the smell.
“Please,” he begs. “Please just stay with me.”

And at the time, I turned you down. But I’m here to tell you that I’m ready to take that chance now.” His gaze darts away, his nerves catching up to him. “If, uh— if the offer’s still on the table.”

“It’s, uh— a little late for me, don’t you think?” Bruce clears his throat. “Not that I don’t appreciate the thought, it’s just— I’m a hell of a lot closer to sixty than sixteen, Clark.”
“Well,” Clark says, and Bruce can hear his smirk through the wood paneling. “How about you just let me see what I can do about that?”
Bruce has his back turned when the door clicks open, the soft squeak of the hinges followed by a rush of light that spills over him and throws his shadow into sharp relief on the wall over Clark’s bed. It’s funny, but for a second there, it almost does make him feel like a nervous teenager.
Clark surprises Bruce with an opportunity to make up for lost time. Bruce accepts.
