Summary
Jack Morrison is a grizzled detective with a dark past and an even darker temper. Gabriel Reyes is the suave and stylish club owner who blew into his office one day and turned Jack's life upside down. Gabriel claims someone is trying to kill him, and that they'll succeed unless Jack can find them first.
Is Gabriel telling the whole truth? Probably not, but there's definitely a mystery to be solved, and Jack doesn't leave anything halfway. What does that mean when Gabriel seems determined to flirt with him? Seems like a bad idea to distract the guy trying to keep you alive.
And Gabriel is so very distracting.

Summary
Jack could step forward and press his hands against Gabriel’s ribs, drag his fingers across the other’s skin until the figurative armor melted away, but he knew he would end up with a something sharp in his gut if he tried it now, after everything that had happened.
Jack did it anyways.
Gabriel tensed, for the first time showing that he was more than just an empty vessel. His body was rigid with distrust, but otherwise unmoving. Jack took the opening, arms curling close and tight around the sweater covering the hard leather shell that he never seemed to be without these days. Even so, he could feel the heat of the other, feel the give where Gabriel was cold to the touch but gradually warming.
And then, it was as easy as breathing.
“Why didn’t you kill me?”
Somewhere, Soldier 76 wages his one-man war against corruption and evil, and somewhere else Reaper grasps corruption and evil by the throat and makes it dance. But wars aren't won by a single man, and someday soon they'll meet in the middle.
Or, Gabriel and Jack work through their relationship problems and the entire world gets caught in the crossfire.

Summary
