His mother didn’t deserve to die. Gen knows this. She shouldn’t have died; she was a woman in her prime, halfway through her thirties and pursuing her master’s in education. She had hundreds of schoolchildren who adored her, who learned from her, and who loved her. Her professors and coworkers mourned her alike, and Gen should have been no different. She didn’t deserve to die.
