Little lady, she snorts. Rolling her eyes. Five years of medical school, of hard graft, and he says it so suavely that she can hardly be mad, because she’s been made to feel small tonight. She’s been attacked in her own apartment, she feels light and vulnerable, and his large hand against her knee– those hands which can level cities and rip curses from limb to limb, touch her so gently that she just wants to relent, to lose herself completely. She’s a thimble, a penny, a grain of rice. She’s so small that she’s imperceptible. She’s light as a feather. She’s an atom waiting to be split.

Trapped in a strange world where everyone's a sorcerer but curses don't exist, and finding herself in a body almost a decade and a half too young, Shoko sees no easy way home. There's not much to do except wait for someone to find her, if they ever can. In the meantime, she supposes she should keep herself from being completely bored...
