“Shit, I’m sorry,” Jungkook says, picking up the wrapped sandwich, dusting off the paper. He lifts his chin, and his breath vanishes for a moment. Yoongi—of course it’s Yoongi standing across from him right now. “Um, here.” He passes Yoongi his food. “Are you okay?”
“Thanks,” Yoongi breathes, running a hand through his shaggy platinum hair, getting it out of his eyes. Fuck, Jungkook hasn’t really gotten a chance to see him up close like this and he isn’t any less pretty than he used to be when they were kids. In fact, he really has gotten way hotter. “I was coming over to say hi and then I slipped and—”
“It’s okay.” Jungkook forces a weak smile. He cannot let his anxiety take over right now. He’s talking to Yoongi one-on-one for the first time in years and he will not screw this up. “Well… Hi.”
Yoongi lets out a tense breath. “Hi,” he replies, dropping his hands, backpack hanging off one shoulder. “Um, I actually wanted to ask you something?”
A tingle travels up Jungkook’s spine. “Yeah?”
(or; Years after their families drifted apart, Yoongi and Jungkook reunite as college students living in opposite worlds.)

Summary
He makes it a point not to look away from Yoongi, to show him how much he means it. Yoongi maintains eye-contact for once, his pupils dilated, his lids heavy from what Jeongguk guesses is a severe lack of sleep. Yoongi is so much like him in so many ways, though he’d be afraid to draw the comparison out loud.
(Jeongguk and Yoongi, both consistently sleep deprived and somewhat desperate to make a mark on the world, keep coincidentally running into one another until their lives start becoming more and more intertwined.)

Summary
This isn’t so different, here, when Mingyu’s fire snuffs out every time Jihoon meets his eyes. Mingyu says or does something, and Jihoon laughs, gaze never averting. Jihoon wanders off by himself, and Mingyu peels himself away from the group to stand beside him and blurt anything to spark conversation. There aren’t any powerful photographers or directors to impress, no agency chief executives or designers; but there is a powerful music producer that Mingyu’s manager loves, and Mingyu wants to love and be loved, too. That’s a part of him he can’t shut off.

I will find you even if you hide in another Universe and I will torture you and I will make sure you go to hell. Then I will kill myself and I will go to hell after you so I can torture you for the rest of the existence. Are we clear?"
Jungkook pushes himself up from the sofa. His shoulder brushes Yoongi's chest. "Don't forget to take your lunch." Disregarding Yoongi's words just like that, as if they're not worth anything, like all of his worries are pointless.
Or, alternatively: the radio keeps talking about the the Dragon King's violent raids. An ordinary mechanic Min Yoongi calls it a fairy tale. A GISAN officer Kim Seokjin isn't so sure.

Summary
The world has always felt like it was ending to Kim Namjoon. The scale of a problem has never mattered, every molehill morphing into a mountain, every mountain demanding to be scaled instead of ignored, or moved again, or reduced in size.
If someone had told Kim Namjoon in 2009 that he wouldn’t just lie down and go to sleep at the start of the apocalypse, that he wouldn’t wash his hands with the idea of trying to be of use after he failed out of the Jaeger Academy, he would have laughed. Not to their face - he’d always been a polite kid - but in the hollow, hungry heart of himself? It was hard to imagine what he’d do with success next week. Failure in the future was a rock-slide, a free-fall, a clear point beyond which nothing existed.
But that’s the thing about mountains. If you climb enough of them, you get to be pretty good at it.
(Or: Giant monsters attack the earth. Earth fights back in giant robots. Namjoon and Yoongi accidentally fall in love.)
