    Summary

    In an alternate history Victorian England where some technology (most notably audio recording) is anachronistically advanced and the British Empire is starting to collapse, Dr. Watson distracts himself from his spoils of war (PTSD, a prosthetic arm, and a growing resentment towards British nationalism) by obsessively recording his very queer roommate and his very singular profession.
    This is planned to be a full rewrite/adaptation of the ACD canon that engages with and hopefully subverts and has interesting conversations about the themes of British imperialism, white supremacy, crime, poverty and gender.
    There will be eventual John/Mary/Sherlock but its going to take a While so buckle in. I'm putting the slow in slow burn.
    New chapter every other Friday.

    What if the book merchant was not the first disguise Holmes used to get close to Watson? What if he returned to London months earlier and found he could not stay away from him? Watson, whose face has grown sunken and weary in these three years, and Holmes who, as a result, finds himself desperately curious to understand why.

    "He met my gaze for a single moment. He saw me, but he did not observe. I was merely a stranger to him. His eyes had categorized me as an insignificant fragment of the scenery around; as unimportant as the street lamps, the cobbled stone, the bustling crowd and the click-clacking sound of a hansom driving past. He paid me no mind. He diverted his gaze back to the street, but I, I could not bring myself to look anywhere besides at him."
