Summary
Himiko Toga was not supposed to live past the night of her birth, and yet 5 years later, she's still alive, doomed to a life of hiding and loneliness. Summary
After being unceremoniously dumped by her girlfriend and receiving a career stunting injury, Tsuyu really thought life couldn't drag her down any lower. That was before she got the call about the insect infestation.
In a bought of nostalgia, Tsuyu visits Ochako's, her best friend and former roommate, apartment in hopes of finding a place to stay during these troubling times.
Given her recent string of bad luck, opening the door to find Toga Himiko, freshly out of prison and strapped with an ankle monitor, sitting on her best friend's couch really shouldn't have been such a shock.

More than a year later, she still didn’t know if seeing Himiko’s body one last time had been the right choice. On one hand, it should have helped the grieving process; seeing her, knowing she was gone. It meant there was no chance she was still somewhere out there. That final glimpse should have allowed her to move on without dwelling on what-ifs, at least that’s what she told herself.
Some nights, she still tried to convince herself the body wasn’t really Himiko’s, that it was fake, a clone created during the sad man’s death parade that somehow hadn’t turned to ashes. She still told herself that Himiko would be back one day.
