After writing out the command to delete himself from the simulation, Harvey wakes up in a panic on the side of a highway, a place not unlike his booth. His injuries are gone and he can’t feel any pain. In his panic, he doesn’t notice a car pull over and a woman rush out to help him.

Driving along the highway, you never expected to find a man lying on the highway shoulder, hyperventilating and panicked. As you rush out to help calm him, he starts murmuring about a simulation, the name Eun-mi, and something about “blood money.” You try to help him, and end up offering a place to stay with you.

The warmth in his chest grew stronger, and he felt the overwhelming urge to press his lips to Shu’s forehead, right under where his pink hair met the pale of his skin.

In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

It’s as if he’s been frozen in time. Nothing about him has changed since he last touched the surface of his home planet.
But of course, that’s not true. Everything has changed.
He doesn’t understand. He doesn’t know what this means. He’s a man of science. There are rules, immutable laws of the universe, no matter where in the universe one is. Entropy, decay, deterioration. Everything in the universe experiences it.
Everything except him, it seems.
