Summary
Kara’s already having a shit day.
It even started off bad – she woke up late, nearly forgot her glasses, dropped her morning bagel on the ground and spilled her coffee on her favorite shirt. And then she just fought an alien with a cold so her super-suit has weird blue gunk stuck to it from when he sneezed on her. Three times in a row.
This is all to explain why, when she flies through the window of her apartment, slips out of her super-suit, turns on the light, and sees her arch-nemesis and resident evil-nerd-who-tried-to-kill-her, Lena Luthor, sitting on her couch—she barely blinks an eye.
Lena, however, scowls at her in that way she does and says, “If you tell anyone I’m here, I’ll tell the world Supergirl moonlights as a second-rate reporter.”
Or the one where Lena's a criminal and Kara loses every argument she tries to have.

Summary
Lena's not like a fan fan of Kara Danvers or anything, but Kara did work with TRAFFIC to help break the story that brought down Hydra. And then she didn't even make a big deal out of it -- said, "all I did was snap photos", respectfully turned down an interview with Cat Grant, and blushed on live Instagram when she saw Cat had branded her Supergirl for all her efforts.
So, maybe Lena has a very small, very professional crush on Kara and the work she does, but she's cool about it. She thinks she's cool about it, at least -- and then her words get stuck in her throat as soon as she walks up to Kara to introduce herself.
Especially when Kara turns around, big blue eyes glittering as she smiles at Lena, and asks, "Are you Lena Luthor?"
OR, the au where Lena's an investigative journalist that's never managed to land a front page story, Kara's a hotshot National Geographic photographer, and they make a really good team.

Summary
“Is it safe for you to be out here?” Lena asks softly, probably trying to show that she’s not ordering Supergirl to come back inside, but that she’s merely worried. The gesture is sweet and makes Kara feel even worse for having kept this secret for so long.
“It’s as safe as any place in National City. My apartment. My favorite café. My workplace,” Kara says as she leans on the railing, looking up towards the stars.

"Headcanon that Lena realizes Kara is Supergirl slowly over a period of time simply because she keeps throwing stuff at her and it just escalates to the point of there’s no other explanation as to why she can catch all these things.
