Every moment Buck feels as if he loves Eddie as much as possible, and every moment he’s proven wrong by falling even more in love. He’s proven wrong again as Eddie shifts so he’s facing Buck, lifting his leg onto the couch so that his shin is flush against Buck’s thigh, bringing them closer.
“Buck.” Eddie speaks his name quietly, like its something precious. And Buck falls even more as Eddie captures his gaze in those warm, brown eyes.

“Evan,” Tommy starts, leveling him with a look. “I can’t ask that of you. I live in the opposite direction of you, it will take you forever to get home.”
“Then spend the night at my place.”
The words slip past his lips before he even has a chance to think. Tommy stills, his mouth dropping open in surprise.
“Are - are you sure?” He asks gently, with big, sincere eyes.
Buck thought he would panic at the prospect of spending their first night together - his first night with a man - but he takes it in stride like everything else in this journey; with excitement and joy. He smiles, and doesn’t have any regrets when he says, “Yes. Please come home with me, Tommy.”
Buck swears Tommy’s smile could be enough to remind anyone of how much beauty this world contains. “Okay,” he whispers. “Take me home, Evan.”

Chimney presses his lips together in a thin line, eyeing the beer in Buck’s hand before he steps back and motions for Buck to come in. He barely closes the door before he turns, hands on his hips and says, “Okay, on the count of three we both spill whatever it is we need to say.”
Buck nods his head in agreement. He just prays he doesn’t vomit all over Chimney’s floor when he speaks.
“One.”
“Two.”
“Three.”
And, two things happen at once:
Buck manages a I slept with Eddie last night while Chimney blurts out Maddie and I slept together.
Followed by;
Buck, spluttering Aren’t you and Maddie not together?? and Chim practically howling YOU SLEPT WITH EDDIE?

In the midst of the panic, Buck somehow instinctively unclips himself from the line as they tumble into the water, knowing they would most certainly drown if he didn’t. He holds onto Hannah, nearly crushing her against his chest as they plunge beneath the ice cold surface. Eddie’s terrified Buck! is the last thing he hears before he’s pulled downstream by the dangerous current.

“Two whole days, huh?” Eddie asks with fond amusement as he folds the last of Christopher’s clean shirts, stacking it neatly in the laundry basket.
“Eddie,” Buck groans, his voice a little gruff with just the quietest tinge of nauseous that tells him that Buck probably hasn’t had anything to eat yet, “how am I supposed to distract myself for two days if I can’t talk to anyone or scour the internet from the comfort of my own bed.”
“You do know you have a laptop, right?” Eddie hums, the phone carefully tucked against his shoulder and his ear as he maneuvers to Christopher’s room to put the clothes away.
“Fine,” Buck relents, “I have a laptop, but you know that doesn’t solve the can’t talk to anyone problem.”

“Stop looking at me like that,” he rasps, his gaze falling to the floor. His hands are clenched tight, fingers icy with all the heat in his body being held in his face and chest.
“Like what?” Tommy asks, and there’s that exasperated tone. Like he’s sick of him; like he can’t put up with him for one more minute because he’s sickened by him, just like everyone else.
“Like you see a lifetime,” Evan chokes out, unable to stop the tears. He blinks them down as he shakes his head, angry at himself. This would be so much easier if he could just keep it together, but he never does, does he? The old Evan must be so happy, because he always wins. He drives everyone away, makes sure it’s just him, by himself.
Tommy sighs. “No.”

“I-…I came to talk,” Evan answers. “I wanted to-..”
“What,” Tommy counters. “Tell me some more about how you don’t have to have feelings for the people you sleep with? I was pretty clear on that the other morning.”
“No,” Evan answers quickly. He reaches a hand out toward his ex-boyfriend, but Tommy is quick to pull back, shaking his head. He turns away from the door, and after a moment of questioning the right move, Evan shakes his head at himself and steps inside, closing the door behind himself. “Look, the other day, I-I stuck my foot in my mouth. S-seems like I’m pretty good at that, actually.”
Tommy keeps his back to him, and other than some light movement in his shoulders, there’s little to let on whether he’s paying attention to what Evan is saying.
“I didn’t mean to-.. I mean I-I did mean-..God, could you just,” he stammers as he reaches out for Tommy’s shoulder, grasps it and turns his ex-boyfriend. He gulps when the other man faces him and sees the tear tracks on his face. “Fuck.”

Tommy can’t help glancing towards the first floor then, apprehensive at the suggestion.
“Besides,” Bobby continues, drawing his attention back. “The whole house is betting on Buck going first, and I’ve got five hundred on you.”

“Hey!” Evan laughs, smacking him in the chest. Tommy just grins at him, leaning forward and kissing Evan’s forehead before pulling him into his arms. Evan buries his face against Tommy’s chest, wrapping his arms tight around the pilot as the older man presses his own into Evan’s temple.
“You take as long as you need to, to find strength in that word again,” he murmurs softly. “There are plenty of other ways to say and show it.”
OR:
they finally say 'I love you', and Tommy finds out about Eddie's treatment of Evan. Conversations ensue.

“Just look at me,” Tommy tells him as he wraps his other hand around Evan’s right. Evan squeezes tightly, and when the door moves, even though the glass is mostly settled, he still cries out.
“Okay,” Tommy says, nodding at him. “Okay. It’s okay.”
Once the door is gone, the EMTs from the 122 are moving quickly, shoving a portable stretcher beneath Evan and then sealing his head to the board.
“Moving on three,” one of them states.
“Don’t go,” Evan rasps at Tommy.
“I’m coming with,” he confirms, holding Evan’s gaze.
..
OR: We crash that jeep, and Tommy has to be on scene. Confessions ensue.
