Summary
Mike sniffled. Something warm dripped out of his nose, and he frowned. He didn’t have allergies in the fall, and his nose didn't feel very stuffy anyways, rather it felt dry. He wiped it with the back of his sleeve, planning on turning around to wipe his nose properly. Instead, when he lowered his hand, he froze.
Ms. Byers turned to him, confused as to why he stopped, but she took in a sharp breath as well when she saw the deep red stain on his sleeve, and the droplets of blood leaking out of his nose.
“Oh shit.”
After returning from the MAC-Z, Mike's resolve slowly crumbles after processing the last week of his life. After a breakdown and a terrifying vision, it's revealed that Vecna has possessed him, and he only has one day left.

Summary
Through the confusion of it all, Mike still had the question of why. He knew Will loved him, with the way Will’s fingers dragged through the hair on his head, the way Will looked down at him with such concern over a few useless tears. Will loved Mike, and Mike knew that.
He didn’t know why.
So he asked. He closed his eyes, exhaling the question like it was the hardest thing in the world. “Why do you love me?”
Mike questions why the people he knows love him. Will gives him some reassurance.

Summary
Blue was a sad color, like the color of tears, and sometimes mold. Oddly, he associated himself with it. He wasn’t sure why. Maybe it was because he was sad, or maybe it was his favorite color. He couldn’t remember. It didn’t matter. He was dying.
Blue wasn’t always sad, though. It was the sky, the sea, and the planets Neptune and Uranus. All of which were spectacular things that are so mysterious. Unknown.
Mike didn’t know which blue he was. Maybe he was just himself, and not a color. Maybe he’d always just been himself.
As Mike drifts away from consciousness for the last time, logic deteriorates around him. He reminds himself of life and detaches himself from who he thought he previously was.

“I— I wasn’t going to do anything. I was just… I was—”
“Please don’t do this with me,” Dustin cut in, swallowing thickly. Mike tried to ignore the pain in the other boy’s voice, but that didn’t stop a voice of his own deep down telling him that he’d fucked everything up again.
“Dustin—”
“Don’t make me go through this again,” he said, quieter. The firmness in his voice had vanished, replaced by desperation and vulnerability. Dustin rarely spoke like that, usually opting for a more assertive voice, but that assertiveness had shifted into something softer. Mike could feel tears brimming in his eyes, because at least real dead people had the grace of not being able to hear someone pleading for their life. Mike, who only felt like he was dead and rotting, still had to be torn apart by caring words, and that was torturous.
A few months after the destruction of the Upside Down, Mike still hasn’t moved on from everything. On the daily, he finds it harder to climb out of bed. When he finds himself imagining death at Sattler’s Quarry, he doesn’t expect Dustin to find him, in the same spots they were in almost five years before.

Summary
His eyes felt wet, and he sniffled, trying to keep himself from crying into the boy's top. His throat felt painfully dry, and the cold air passing through his throat didn’t help. The warmth of Will did, though, and Mike held onto him a little tighter.
“Mike, what’s—”
“I’m sorry,” he gasped, squeezing his eyes shut. “I did it again, I’m sorry.”
After El's sacrifice, everyone struggles to cope. Mike turns to less than healthy methods, and when he's caught, he gets the help he needs from those around him.

Summary
Mike fought to stay awake, because he had never felt the sensation of death, so he didn’t know if this would be the end. He didn’t know if his last moments were spent bathing in the past, and the past coming back to embrace him. He wasn’t even sure if it was real at all, or if he was just hallucinating the desires he’d felt since he was a child. All he could feel, as his vision turned black and consciousness slipped away, was what felt like a press of lips against his, a final warmth, a kiss goodbye as he ventured into the unknown. He was afraid, but even if it wasn’t real, the kiss, filled with home, made him feel safe.
Mike, a soldier for his kingdom, finds himself on death's doorstep after a fatal injury. In his final moments, he is greeted by a boy from his past that he never thought he'd see again.

“I think I’ll tell her tonight,” He whispered. It was a truth. He wouldn’t back down. He wouldn’t chicken out. He really was going to tell her.
“Really?” Robin asked. Will wasn’t looking at her, but he could hear the smile in her voice.
“I know it’s soon, but… I feel ready,” Will declared, a bit louder this time.
“I’m proud of you.”
Will smiled. He was proud of himself too.
After a comforting conversation with Robin, Will decides to tell Joyce how he really feels.

“When I was trying to find Will, I ended up at your house by accident since you’re so close by, and I… I saw you take your shirt off, and…” Jonathan couldn’t finish his sentence, and he looked up at Steve anxiously to see his facial expression. Steve was deep in thought, trying to sort everything out in his head.
“So it was never her?” He asked after a few seconds, and Jonathan shrugged.
“It’s not like I never thought about her… it’s just—” Jonathan shook his head, pausing for a moment to close his eyes. “My eyes were more drawn to you.”
Steve still has a lot of questions about why Jonathan took pictures of him and Nancy on the night of the party. Jonathan is very reluctant to answer.

He grinned to try and play it off as a joke, and Steve's lips crinkled into a sly smile that immediately drew Jonathan’s gaze.

It had been a while since Steve, Robin, Nancy, and Jonathan had began meeting up monthly, but every hangout was fun. Whether it be rekindling old flames or sparking new ones, some closer friendships grow into something more.

“Oh. Alright.” Will nodded, bending down below his desk to find wherever he had thrown his sketchbook in his embarrassing moment of panic. Meanwhile, Hopper turned to leave, not wanting to scare the kid any further with his presence.
“Thanks for telling me, dad.”
Hopper froze, the door staying half open with his hand on the knob. He turned around, and he saw that Will froze as well, staring wide-eyed at the older man.
“I— no problem, kid.”
Hopper has always struggled with getting through to Will. He assumed that the kid hated him at the least, but when Will slips up, they have no choice but to talk out complicated feelings.

She could hear muffled footsteps, a lock turning, and the door slowly creaking open. Hesitantly, Mike peaked out of the crack. When he saw the messy strands of red hair, he let out a breath and his body released a bit of tension, but he still furrowed his eyebrows in confusion at the girl standing at his front door.
“Max?” He exclaimed, far too loud for the quiet environment. “Why are you here so late? It’s like two in the morning.”

In the distance, both of their ears caught onto the broken laughter of C00lkidd as he chased after a survivor, although neither knew who it was.
