    Kurapika died on the Black Whale and woke in the Lukso forest, years before the massacre. His clan was alive. His chains were intact.     Kurapika closed his eyes. Chrollo's fingers were touching his face. His fingertips were cold. Kurapika could feel the faint calluses on Chrollo's index finger and thumb, from holding books, he realised. From turning pages by candlelight.

    He leaned in.

    The kiss was clumsy. Chrollo tilted his head the wrong way, their noses brushing awkwardly. He made a small, frustrated sound against Kurapika's mouth and adjusted, and the second attempt was better, softer, his lips parting on an inhale like he was surprised this was allowed.

    He told himself it was strategy. He kept telling himself that long after strategy stopped being a convincing explanation.
