Summary
Surviving the arena is not the same as being free of it. The fire just makes you easier to see in the dark.
The seventy-fifth Hunger Games requires victors, and the math for District Twelve is absolute. There's only one living female victor. She's going back into the one place she thought she had escaped, carrying the memories of everything she barely survived the first time.
What wasn't written in Snow's card: who walks to the stage beside her. What the arena does to a person the second time around, when they already know what it is. What's left of you when you come out the other side, and whether the people waiting for you will recognize what's left.
Some things survive fire. Some things come out changed. Some things don't come out at all.
This story contains all three.
