Summary
Six weeks. Six weeks of sleeping alone and living off text messages and a few voicemails, and some brutally rare phone calls. It would’ve made a stronger person snap, and Leon was beginning to be absolutely done. He missed Chris so much he wasn't sure if he could still wait those few days until he'd be back home.
Sometime Leon must’ve fallen asleep because the next thing he registered was the mattress dipping next to himself, a familiar weight settling over him. Already before his brain was awake he knew it was Chris, but all he managed was a sleepy little sound. It made Chris chuckle, and he brought his lips close to Leon’s ear, whispering. “Missed me?”

Summary
At moments like this it was easy for Leon to forget that he and Chris weren’t even A Thing, not really. They were friends, had been for two decades, and for the past years they’d also been having absolutely mindblowing sex together whenever they were both free. But that was it.
Still, Leon’s treacherous heart kept wishing for more, wishing for Chris to look at him like he looked at Chris. He knew that Chris cared about him. So maybe he should just suggest that they actually make it a real relationship. They weren’t that far from it.
“Hey, Chris—”
“Hey, before I forget,” Chris said, interrupting Leon without even noticing it. “I’ve got to cancel next Friday.” When Chris went on, his smile was audible in his voice. “I’ve got a date! Can you believe that? A real date!”

After Chris accidentally breaks Leon’s heart, Leon is fully prepared to nurse his bruised feelings alone. He’s less prepared for the way Piers is apparently dead set on being there for him to help him through it.
