In 1973, Illya is settling in as Director of Innocent and Family Protection at UNCLE. As discreet life partner of the current Number One and even more discreet Favourite Uncle of little Muriel Solo, he is also finally making use of his lifetime memberships at both Tavia Sandor’s dance school and Irina’s judo academy. Of course, just because you have left fieldwork doesn’t mean fieldwork has any intention of leaving you. Especially when an Affair hits this close to home.
An affair fic wearing a kid fic trench and a 5mins-in-the-future sequel to this timeline where Mimi Doolittle has had Napoleon’s child as a very much unplanned consequence of The Foxes and Hounds Affair, and Illya/Napoleon in an established relationship are non-residential but active caregivers (in Illya's case, as much as social attitudes allow). Technically compliant with TV series canon.
