Summary
Spanner was familiar with the parameters of crushing. He was, after all, an observant man. Movies, books, his sisters- they had all described to him the fluttering, unavoidable mash-up of hormonal and chemical reactions that made you physically unbalanced and mentally incapable. When he was six it had been terrifying. But now, being in the thrall of this highly manipulative feeling, Spanner could feel nothing but fascination.
(Or, how it's hard to express the difference between an obsession with robots and falling in love.)
