    Colin had sworn to not two, not three, but four people he would not be in attendance: Eloise, Daphne, his mother, and Benedict. But Pen wouldn’t have come if she knew he was going to be in attendance, and Penelope needs his family nearly as much as she needs a holiday. He can’t let her vanish from their lives just because he’d hurt her feelings. That’s Colin’s fault, not Penelope’s. That’s his punishment to bear.

    It’s just that the punishment is staying away from Penelope, and Colin can’t quite stand the thought of bearing it all the way.

    She doesn’t want to be angry with Colin, but she is. She knows that his laugh wasn’t one of malice, that he was just joking around with his brothers- but still, she was the joke, and that’s the thing she can’t quite get past. Penelope had never once expected Colin to love her the way that she loved him, she’s not an idiot, but she’d hoped that- after over a decade of friendship- he’d have a little more respect for her. 

     

    Why is she crying over him anyways? Why is she crying over a man who clearly doesn’t care about her as much as he said he did? A man who’s taken her and her friendship for granted? It’s not like Colin’s so great, certainly not a guy worth spilling tears over. Colin’s… He… 

     

    Fuck. Why can’t she think of any of his flaws?

     

    Well, that’s going to change. 

     

    Penelope wipes her tears and grabs an empty notebook from her room, she sits at her desk and immediately begins writing. 

     

    Reasons Why Colin Bridgerton Isn’t That Great

     

    Penelope writes down Colin's flaws in a journal to get over him, it goes about as well as you'd expect.

    “Why are you saying blond that way as if it offended you?”

    “Men should not be blond! Real men anyways,” Colin argued. “He is blond, and just… too particular. He does not care about her the way I do! And she won’t even listen to me to explain myself that I did not mean it when I said I would never date her. I’d marry her and have her babies and we would live happily ever after!”

    “You would have her babies?” Alex blurted out, trying so hard not to laugh.

    Colin looked at him, almost offended at Alex’s question. “Yes? Is that a problem?” He pursed his lips and waited for the answer.

    “Nope,” Alex shook his head in amusement. “All’s good, my guy.”

    Or

    Colin gets plastered after Penelope continues to 'date' Alfred Debling. He is wallowing and wants Penelope to see that blond penguin guy was not good enough for her. In doing so, much or less, makes it everybody's problem.
