Summary
“I can’t believe he has the balls to show up here of all places,” Jason said in quiet anger.
“He probably thinks it’d be conspicuous if he didn’t show,” Dick murmured as Rawling took a sip of his scotch and laughed at someone’s joke. “He’s a society event regular. Eventually, someone would notice that he'd stopped attending Wayne galas.”
--
One year ago, an ordinary society event turned into the worst night of Dick's life. Left for dead in a pool of his own vomit and blood, Dick was rendered prey by someone he'd thought was a friend.
The recovery was as humiliating as it was painful, but Dick got better. He investigated his case. He caught his perp. He exacted his justice. So why the hell can't he sleep?
--
The worst is over, but hell is near.

Summary
“We’re not like Tim or Damian,” Jason said quietly. “Our parents didn’t have a last name that meant money or power. Neither of us had a silver spoon shoved in our mouth until we arrived at that mansion.”
Jason held Dick’s gaze. “Biologically,” he said. “We’re trash.”
--
Twenty years ago, Dick attended his first gala; a glorious, glittering affair that left his eight-year-old self wide-eyed and slack-jawed. Becoming a permanent fixture of Gotham Society was certainly an adjustment, especially for a circus kid whose performer’s smile was brittle with grief. But Dick was nothing if not a survivor. He soon learned that he could dazzle his audience with a smile and a quick quip just as well as he could with a trapeze.
And, sure, Bruce had always told him to be careful. To keep a watchful eye on his drink, and not to stray too far from Bruce’s side. But Bruce was overprotective, and Dick wasn’t a kid anymore. He didn’t need to fear Gotham’s elite because there was nothing to fear.
Besides, they were his friends…

“Drake?”
When Drake’s only answer to his name was a weak sigh, Damian’s concern grew exponentially.
“Report.” Damian said.
Drake’s laugh was abrupt and wet, ending with a cough.
“F… Fine.” Drake said. “Are you okay? You hurt? I’m su… I’m sure help’s coming…”
“Drake.” Damian said more firmly. “Report.”
“Told you…” Drake’s voice was somehow even weaker than before. “Fine… Can you move?”
Trapped blood trapped blood blood blood trapped.
“No.” Damian said.

Summary
For a long time, Tim doesn’t know his parents are dead. Maybe that makes him a bad son, for not knowing. When he reads about death, or when he watches people die in movies, their loved ones always know. There’s a gasp of pained revelation, an instinctual loss.
Tim doesn’t feel that. He wouldn’t have noticed at all, except for that he likes to keep track of the things going on in the places where his parents visit. Sometimes, it means he can ask leading questions, on their mostly-weekly phone calls, and Janet will spiral off into some tangent about these people and their lack of work ethic, and she’ll talk for minutes on end before realizing she’s still on the phone, getting bored, and then ending the call. So he keeps an alert system on his phone, for news, so they have some topics in common to talk about. It’s only luck he sees the article before anyone else does.
