Lando put his hands up in mock surrender, laughing to himself. “Christ, fine. If you're not packing then you could just say that."
Oscar froze.
Unintentionally so, embarrassingly so. But he froze nonetheless, feeling his cheeks go red against his own will. He had no idea what the fuck to say to that. Oscar knew that realistically, there was no way Lando actually knew his size. He was messing around. He had to be.
Oscar tried to laugh to save face. He tried so hard to get himself to. But he could only feel himself going redder, his heart suddenly pounding hard in his chest, words completely lost on him. And, god, Lando was just staring at him. Eyebrows slightly furrowed, like he was trying to figure out what was going through Oscar's head, before a smirk started to curl onto his lips.
"Osc," he began slowly, measured. "Is that what this is about?"

Cele’s gaze snaps back into focus, like a switch being flipped so abruptly it takes Marco aback. There’s something intense and burning behind Cele’s glowing pupils, something hungry, frenzied, that Marco has never seen before. He has always been pretty convinced he knew Celestino inside and out, like the pockets of his jeans; his quirks, his reactions, his core values, his stupid inner monologue that’s sometimes telling him to set a dumpster on fire – thank God he rarely gives into his intrusive thoughts, anyway. Still, this is new, unexplored territory. Celestino doesn’t look exactly angry, doesn’t look exactly sad, but a mixture of the two glued together by sheer determination. It’s…scary, somehow. Makes things feel a hundred times more real.
“What you said at dinner,” Celestino starts, staring at him as if Marco actually has all the answers, even to the questions he has never asked himself in the first place. “Did you really mean it?”Bez says something deeply inappropriate at the dinner table but, luckily for him, he doesn't come to regret it.

It's like he wakes up in increments. First, the sound of the machines, again, droning on and on. Then voices, hushed but urgent. Then the pain, an insistent throb in his calf, his collarbone, his wrists. Finally, he opens his eyes and he sees that he is lying in a hospital bed.
He remembers next to nothing. Well, he remembers some things, some very random facts and a few important things from his childhood- like his family's faces, who they are (thank fuck he remembers that). He knows most general knowledge, like NFL rules and how to cook spaghetti and how to park a car, but has no memory attached to these facts. He knows all the Formula 1 world champions from when he was three to around age twelve. (Schumacher for five years in a row, Fernando Alonso twice, then Raikkonen, Hamilton, Button. Still got it.) But other than that- not much.
Lance wakes up from a crash and forgets.
