Summary
“What is this?” Kyle says, when he pulls open the envelope and sees its contents.
“It’s a valentine.” Stan’s blushing. “I made it.”
Kyle looks down at it again, in case his eyes have deceived him. But, no. John Elway is still staring back at him, in all his horse-faced ugliness, and ‘Elways and Forever!’ is still written across the top, the letters cut out from magazine headings like some kind of fucking serial killer ransom note.

Summary
“Oh, neat.” Their driver sounded completely uninterested. Stan hated the way Wendy talked a lot with that sweet, fake-nice voice to strangers. “I sure wish I had a wife.”
Wendy said nothing. Stan said, “Sometimes, so do I.”

Summary
Need fake-boyfriend for family Christmas. Free ride, free meal, free gifts.
Kyle had clicked on the post out of curiosity. Out of boredom. The prospect of spending a week with a stranger seemed better than a week alone at the time. He hadn't expect to know the stranger. Otherwise, he wouldn't have agreed.
But he had agreed. And it found him in the childhood home of Craig Tucker, pretending to be his boyfriend for Christmas.

Summary
“Reeeeaaallly?” Linda’s eyes narrowed, suspicion pouring off her in waves. “And you’re not here on a little recon? A little burger busting? Trying to get our secret recipes?”
Like an alarm Trev couldn’t hear went off, Linda shuffled to the side and glanced back. Seconds later, Bob exited the kitchen, door swinging behind him.
“The ingredients aren’t really all that… secret."

Summary
There’s a common misconception about her son. Something she’s fought with people over time and time again. The fact that people don’t think he can express emotion. Almost like the fact that he’s autistic is supposed to prevent him from feeling.
Craig loves deeply. Tenderly. The same way she does. That heart cracking, universe expanding kind of love.
That’s why she can see it. The fact that Craig has already fallen for this boy.
