His alarm was going off. Techno had a groggy impression that it had been going off for a while. He fumbled his phone off the dresser, turned it off, closed his eyes, and then sat bolt upright in a panic. Battleship today, he needed to not oversleep. He fumbled his glasses onto his face, pulled on a hoodie and a pair of socks, and headed downstairs.
His roommates were already gone, so there was no one in the kitchen. Techno lined up his mugs and checked his phone while he waited for the kettle to boil.

"I can't wait to meet them," Fred writes, heart soaring. "I hope we all get along well."
"You will, you will," Tubbo reassures him. "I'd say you're pretty easy to get along with. They're gonna love you just as much as I do."
Tubbo freezes, then, like he's said something wrong, face reddening. Fred doesn't quite understand.

People leave.
That is one of the many harsh truths of the world. People just grow up and grow apart; they become different people; they no longer click with others the way they once had. This causes them to set out on their own, searching for new groups and friends.
Sometimes it’s not just because they grow up. Sometimes it’s because it’s better to leave certain things in the past.
That’s what Tubbo longs to do.

Or, Tubbo thinks about how people always seem to grow apart and move on. If there's one thing he wants, he wants everyone to stay. If he can't have that, then maybe it's better if he severs their relationships himself.
