Korra Imaq had simple goals for her life. Move up the promotion ladder in her career as a firefighter, and find that happily ever after kind of love. Oh, and she's newly out as bisexual! She loved her life in New York City, but it would be easier if she could talk to a woman without tripping over her own feet. Getting men? Easy. Getting women? Not so much.
Asami Sato is entirely the opposite. Her life has been laid out for her from the moment she learned to draw her first blueprint. Her demanding job and very public persona leaves no room for romance. The family automotive business means everything to her and she will not let something like love get in the way of that.
When they meet through an awkward message on a dating app, they are clearly only meant to be friends. Right?

Korra wasn’t sure what was weirder: that her boyfriend lived with his ex or that she was the one currently driving Korra to their apartment.
“So you’re what -- a volunteer mechanic?”
Korra thought the address she’d gotten for Asami’s “internship” had to be a mistake when she’d found herself outside an auto shop. Then the perfect, prissy, engineering major had rolled out from underneath a car in a grease-stained tank top flashing an entirely too friendly smile.
And now Korra was going to be a snarky bitch about it, apparently.
Asami, in yet another unexpected move, laughed.
“And chauffeur I hear.”
Korra winced, despite herself.

Expect alcohol, traumatic pasts, bad decisions, seedy nightclubs, corrupt cops, even more corrupt politicians, strippers and exotic dancers with hearts of gold, femme fatales, washed-up detectives (both police and private ones), corporate moguls of questionable loyalty, betrayals and lies.
Lots of betrayals and lies.
And frequent mentions of how Naga is a good girl. Yes, she is!

A pseudo-sequel to “Last One Out”.
A New Era, new Heroes, new challenges.
After a one in every couple eons cosmic calamity, the universe has at long last sorted itself out and is ready to go on until either the next reset or reality’s final close, whatever comes first.
The Heroes of Old have been selected as the new Pantheon to oversee this New Era, and it is up to new Heroes to rise across the universe and take their place. In the case of Planet Earth, quite a couple teams have already come and gone over the years, and now is the time for the latest generation to step onto the stage and become the World’s Finest.
They’ve got what it takes though, I’m pretty sure of it.
