“We aren’t supposed to be talking.” Steve whispered out of the corner of his mouth.
“Ah, but that isn’t any fun, is it?” Steve glances back again, despite his better judgement. He was a Pearl, and a well decorated one at that, with many accessories draped along his chest, none covering his Gem, slightly off-center, towards the left side of his chest. He covered it as he bowed theatrically.
“My Quartz.” he sang, holographic notes drifting around him. Heat rushed to Steve’s face. He looked forward.
“What do you want?” Steve relented.
“Can’t a gem just want to get to know another gem?” the Pearl asked.
“Not a Pearl and a Quartz.” Steve said.
“Now who said that?”
Steve didn’t answer, instead he gestured with his chin towards the raised dais at the end of the room. The Pearl sighed. “I see how it is. And here I thought that we were going to be friends.” Another forlorn sigh from behind him. Steve wrestled the smile on his face.
aka The Steven Universe and Stranger Things cross-over no one asked for! But I wanted to explore more of Homeworld and I didn't want to make new characters from scratch. Plus, I get to scratch that sweet, sweet Steddie itch.

Summary
It was 2023 in boring Hawkins, Indiana, and Steve Harrington didn't know what he was doing with his life. Home from college with a barely passing GPA, recently dumped, and drunkenly careening down a dark country road to the tune of his own misery, Steve was aware that he might be depressed. Therapy would've been the sane solution. But before he could turn around and make that choice, a glowing red hole cracked open in the middle of the road, and he was sent flying through time and space.
It was also 1985 in boring Hawkins, Indiana, and Eddie Munson had a five step plan on how to fix his life. First, graduate high school. Second, provide a kickass D&D campaign for the nosy little freshman that joined Hellfire. And finally, write more music and go on tour with his band. Okay, three step plan. Absolutely nothing about his plan-in-progress included stumbling across the hottest man he'd ever seen stranded on the side of the road. Or the glowing red portal to hell parked next to him.

“How long do you think it’ll take?” Steve asks, eyes flickering over to the shoebox of materials. “Like, do you have to go over it a bunch of times to make the ink dark enough? We don’t need them that dark.”
“It doesn’t even need to be super straight or even or anything.” Robin adds. “Like don’t worry about making them perfect or anything.”
“Are you guys sure you want tattoos?” Eddie double-checks. These are just verbal confirmations of what he’s already picked up on from their twitchy body language and constant thrum of nervous energy. They’re scared. Which like, fair. But their nervousness gives him pause, makes him wonder why they’re going with commemorative tattoos of all things to remind themselves of the tragic end of their summer jobs.

“Steve?” Eddie interrupts again. Steve casts a glance in his direction, but Eddie is looking past him at the television with hazy eyes.
“Yeah, I’m here.” Steve jostles his foot gently and gestures for the doctor to continue talking about fluid levels. By fluid, he’s pretty sure she just means blood. The blood that Eddie was coughing up, he figures. It had to go somewhere, so they must’ve drained it the same way they drained all the leaking air from Max’s lung. Maybe. He hopes Eddie’s uncle gets this stuff better than he does.
“Don’t you live in Loch Nora?” Eddie asks just as the doctor is opening her mouth to speak again. Steve builds up to a sigh, unsure how exactly to tell Eddie to shut up when it’s not even his fault that he can’t, before he realizes Eddie’s gaze is still glued to the TV.

The reporter grabs the short-haired girl, stopping her from running directly into a frozen onlooker because she’s busy looking over her shoulder at a boy in a leather jacket right behind her, his face pulled tight with pain as he carries a limp, unmoving body, their head tipped back, pale face smeared with blood in the unforgiving halogen lights -

Summary
Eddie Munson was practically raised by the concept of harsh realities, and he’s learned not to want things that he’ll never have, which isn’t as much as a bummer as it could be, because making the most out of what you’ve got is just as good.
Steve Harrington, despite his reputation as a casual flirt and a serial dater, has a bad habit of falling hard and fast and never really recovering. Steve Harrington, despite his reputation as a bit oblivious, and a ladies man, figured some stuff out about himself four years ago and promptly squashed all those feelings into a box he never intended to see the light of day.
In which Will coming out forces Steve to be open about some things (because Steve’s issues will always take a backseat to making sure the kids feel safe). And Steve doesn’t mean for Eddie to find out, but he does, and it turns into a bonding experience. (And it’s the best and the worst, because having him as a friend is more than Steve ever could’ve hoped for, but it also feels a little like dying.)

Lifting back up, Steve sighs. He lowers his voice. “I used to… I used to knot every time.”
“What?” Eddie asks, voice squeaking.
