    Summary

    Kaeya fears the day he'll inevitably be forced to choose. The day he weighs which family he values more and which cause he's willing to fight for.

    Ajax contemplates who he really is, and if it's even possible to keep those he held dearest within his blood-stained arms.

    A boy with the red scarf played a vital role in shaping who Kaeya is today and who he will be in the future far before they've exchanged a single word. Their fates intertwined before they fully understood what fate even meant.

    Though Kaeya relates the boy to the life he left in the past, he comes back and throws Kaeya in for a loop, just as he did the first time.

    Ajax walked out of the abyss with a broken sword, a missing innocence, and a golden pin of a boy he never knew.

    With his identity scattered, he would've never expected the mystery from his past to be the path to salvation.

    A self-indulgent fic on Kaeya and Childe's childhoods, the way their path crossed in more ways than one, and how they slowly find what they lost long ago; by each other's side, to the dismay of everyone involved.

    (Don't be fooled, this is a Ragbros and Childe introspection fic ft Chaeya. My bad.)

    Childe is visiting Kaeya in Mondstadt, but he is NOT used to the temperatures. Unfortunately, he sees everything as a challenge, so there's no way he's going inside. He's going to stay in the sun. Even if he's five seconds from passing out.

    Kaeya is worried. And mostly tired. Affectionately, of course.

    “Hey, Ajax?” Kaeya reaches out to lay a hand on Ajax’s biceps. It’s hot to the touch. 

    Ajax lets out a breathless little laugh. “Sorry, Kae. ‘m fine, don’t worry. I’ve had worse.” He pulls back to stand properly, but as he opens his mouth, his eyes glaze over. His mouth closes and opens a few more times before he, very unelegantly, bumps against Kaeya again. Heavily. 

    Kaeya scrambles to press a hand against Ajax’s forehead. He’s burning up. “Well, aren’t you warm."

    “... Hm? Oh… am I? Hah, funny…” Ajax’s voice trails off, and Kaeya has approximately three seconds to dig his heels into the sand before Ajax’s entire weight is placed between his arms and his forehead drops against Kaeya’s shoulder, utterly dead to the world.

    It's not easy to be the parent of a teenager. It's definitely not easy to be the parent of a teenage superhero. It would probably be at least slightly easier, however, if Jefferson Davis actually knew that he was the parent of a teenage superhero.

    A post-canon Spider-Verse fic in which Jefferson and Miles determinedly fumble their way through a loving father-son relationship, despite recent family losses and ongoing daily struggles.
