“Your touch,” Megumi says, then cuts off, sounding frustrated. He moves Satoru’s hand so that it’s pressed against his chest, right over his heart, and Satoru lets him, curious where this is going and simultaneously touched by how gentle Megumi is being.
Satoru lifts a brow, regarding Megumi as the boy seems to struggle with what he wants to say.
“Your touch,” Megumi starts again, lifting his gaze to stare resolutely at Satoru. “I can’t feel it.”
And oh. Satoru feels his mouth go dry, because of course the boy has to be exactly like him, down to the same love language. Of course.

Ilya is frozen for a second, eyes flicking down to the pillow. David is offering. And his body still feels so heavy to hold up. He moves slowly, like he’s afraid something is going to jump out at him (which is kind of embarrassing), until he comes to rest on his side, his head against the soft pillow.
Without looking away from his book, David reaches over to pull Ilya’s blanket - which had traveled with him - up to rest just under his chin. He leaves his arm over Ilya, resting on his back. Holding him.
Ilya sniffles.

He quickly established his outrageous image, and while his critics gasped in shock whenever he opened his mouth, he had the skills to shut them up.
Ilya Rozanov became a star, a legend.
And nobody would suspect his pain, his heart aching for his mother's love, his father's approval, his brother's support.

So, it wasn’t that Ilya was here. That wasn’t what had caught David off guard when he’d opened the door. It wasn’t even that Shane wasn’t with him — he was staying the night in Montreal, where many of his connections were still based, and something in the back of David’s mind had been expecting a visit because of that — or that he’d knocked instead of letting himself in with a yell as he usually did.
It was something subtler. His demeanour. David couldn’t place it immediately, but Ilya almost seemed… awkward.
As a father with a lot of experience in these sorts of things, David’s instincts told him immediately that something wasn’t quite right.
