Summary
Change is inevitable, immutable. We cannot stop it, and often when we try, the effects spread faster than we can catch. It's the little things that we barely see, the gravel in the tire pushed a little too deep, the raindrop in the pond spreading ripples to the other bank, the grain of sand in the lens, that we ignore. But in the end, each builds, one upon the other, until finally the cuts are too much, until finally the scrapes and scratches are all that you can see. And then you have to decide what is next? What will you open your eyes to tomorrow? What about the day after? And the day after that?
The wrong coffee and an argument about laundry opens Donna's eyes to a truth she's been pointedly ignoring.Series

Just after leaving Messaline, where Jenny regenerated into a young girl rather than ‘died’, an Aubertide family called the Family of Blood turned up, causing the Doctor, Martha and Donna to be thrown into a Human Nature situation. But this time he is a doctor in a nursing home attached to a teaching hospital, Martha is a clinical nurse in the nearby hospice, and the only job left for Donna to do is look after Jenny as her nanny. To top it all, he is after love. How wizard!

Careful not to get her shoes wet she looked out into the waters, timidly moving the grass aside so she could get a better view. It took her a moment to see it, but eventually she locked onto it. There, in the thick of the reeds, was movement.
Whatever it was it was small, barely noticeable if one wasn't looking for it. She stepped closer trying to get a clear image and gasped at the sight.
She had expected a fish or a rodent, or even an eagle for that matter, either one of those would have been more believable than what she was currently staring at.
Or, should she say, who?

Summary
A new old face, a new year, and a friend he could never forget. A friend she could never remember.
The Doctor lands the TARDIS on New Year's Eve as the clock strikes midnight. In the early hours of a fledgling year, he finds himself wandering through the cold, once again alone. Simultaneously, Donna rings in the new year with family, hugs and no small helping of insomnia. The Doctor quickly discovers something is amiss, but he is quickly waylaid while investigating by a chance meeting with a friend he'd all but sworn never to see again.
**If you have read Tapestry, this is the same story. While there is more plot to come, I've decided to make a judgement call and polish this piece and turn the full story I'm working on into a multipart series. This could be read as a standalone or as part of the series I'm writing. Up to you, the reader.**Series
