“I’m being serious. I like you a lot,” Namra insists. Her thumb strokes the spaces between his knuckles. “You don’t have to worry. Not at all.”
Suhyeok smiles knowingly. An ambulance passes by, its horn blaring. He asks again, this time more softly. “Do you want me to write you one, prez?”
Namra thinks about it, and thinks about it. Suhyeok probably wouldn’t like to write her a love letter. She knows he detested anything that had to do with writing. He hated essays with a burning passion, often groaning about the influx of essays for that one literature class they had in their freshman year. That semester, she spent a good amount of her time going through his essays with her red felt-tip.
She didn’t want him to write, not when she knew he didn’t like to. It would be a pain and a bore for him.Someone keeps sending Namra love letters, and it’s not Suhyeok.

Suhyeok doesn't know much about Namra.
He doesn't know her favourite colour or whether she has a pet or even if she knows he exists.
But what he does know is that she's the most diligent and hardworking person he's ever met; that she prefers sitting in the back of the class nearest to the window and hates sitting in the front. He knows that she smells like strawberries and that she sings slow love songs under her breath when she thinks no one is paying attention. But Suhyeok is always paying attention, always the first head to perk up at the rare moments he gets a glimpse at her.
The most certain thing Suhyeok knows regarding Namra is that he is utterly in love with her.

It’s the first time she’s ever acknowledged him. He’s transfixed.
‘Blood,’ her pink lips move to mouth.
Startled, Suhyeok pats his finger against his own lips, pulling it back to confirm that, indeed, he is bleeding.
“I, uh,” he stumbles, still staring at her with wide-eyes. “Fighting. I got it… from a fight,” he says the latter weakly, and gives a thumbs-up to prove that he’s perfectly fine.
