The thing about emergency calls made by kids is that they’re either really easy to deal with, or some of the hardest days on the job. There’s no in-between.

Thankfully, today, the Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight is dealing with the first option.

At least Big News Morgans and his staff at the World Economy News are churning out actual propaganda. I’m sitting here obscuring the world’s problems with marshmallow fluff.

Which isn’t to say that I want to be writing propaganda. But, if I’m going to be evil, I’d at least like to be challenged intellectually while doing it.

In a world of jaw-dropping wonder, heart-pounding adventure, pirates both good-hearted and malevolent, devil fruits, world-shifting power struggles, despicable world nobles, talking polar bears, flying islands, secret oceans and, possibly, actual gods—I work a job that I hate.

    Yuuta loves trust.

Practicing it, after so long wrapped up a cycle of running and hiding and accidental violence, is full-fat cream in imported coffee. It's silk pajamas and fresh, thick sheets. It's a steaming bath filled with oils and soaps that smell like places he dreams of traveling to. Trust is decadence, it's luxury, it still feels like something he isn’t really supposed to be have.

Or: My OT3 tries something new. It goes well!

    Summary

Charles looks up from his drink, eyes dancing. “You read Ginsberg,” he says, and then, “What am I saying—of course you read Ginsberg.”

Erik has read widely and studied extensively but is usually surrounded by people who assume he hasn’t. Charles has consistently been the exception to this. From anyone else, the comment would sound patronizing, but Charles says it as if it’s a wonderful fact that he’s somehow simply forgotten—right, of course sunshine feels good on your skin. Of course Erik Lehnsherr reads Ginsberg.

Erik's lips tilt up in half a smile. He feels something that Charles often makes him feel: the urge to rise to the occasion, to impress, to show off. He takes another drink of coffee, meets Charles’s eyes, then says, “I look at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world.”

Or: Soft sheets, post-sex coffee, and quoting literature as foreplay.

    Summary

“These kinds of departments usually have a lot of politics in them,” she says carefully. “There’s a lot of—impressing the right people, and keeping on certain boards’ good sides, and using just the right vocabulary to keep your funding. It usually turns into a popularity contest quickly.” She nods back at the physics lab. “Dr. McKay doesn’t run things like that.”

John says, “I see,” and then Dr. Betts inclines her head at him walks away. When he thinks about it, it even makes sense—naturally, Rodney McKay, notoriously unpopular man, wouldn’t run his department like a popularity contest.

(He will never admit it, but it’s kind of magnificent to watch Rodney hold court.)

Or: John muses on the Atlantis Expedition's CSO, while the science department takes part in Stupid Question Time.

    Sanji breaks the motherfucker’s nose.

Honestly, said motherfucker is lucky Sanji doesn’t give him a concussion instead of a broken nose, but Sanji is nothing if not perfectly calibrated when kicking the shit out of someone. Roundhouse kick, meet cartilage. Blood, meet floor. Not sanitary, but probably not the worst thing this bar has dealt with this week.

This is all to say that Sanji is currently in a bar fight.

    Summary

There are places in the universe where legends live and fight and create, where truth merges with myth and from that is born gods and heroes and folklore. There are places where people build things that defy logic, monuments to creativity and expertise that tower and awe. There are player names that are spoken with wonder, or they're spoken with fear.

But this is not one of those places.

Or: You know how a lot of Minecraft/SMP fandoms have the "sometimes people get kidnapped off of servers by nefarious actors" whump trope? You know how everyone in-story reacts like, "oh yeah, that's a thing that happens sometimes"? You know how often our protagonist gets in a situation that confirms, yes, there are a lot of people stuck in similar situations? You know how, because we're following the protagonist, they almost always escape or are rescued and get to kick some ass on the way out?

What happens when you're not the protagonist?

But now she’s pulling away from him. It makes his chest tight with anxiety. He doesn’t like—being ignored. He doesn’t like being forgotten.

“Did I do something wrong?” he asks Gran, and Gran frowns.

“No, kid, it isn’t you,” he says, and then he doesn’t say anything else.

Toshinori can't accept that, so he does the only thing he can think of. He tries to be better.

She stares at her new handlers and tries to figure out why they seem so upset.

Or, at least. She assumes they’re her new handlers? She was moved from where she's kept and told to wait, and then these two men appeared. The people who brought her here told her that her old handlers were gone, when she asked.

So these must be new handlers.

She waits to see what her next mission will be. She isn't expecting anything that comes next.

Once upon a time, a woman gives birth to a winged, antlered rabbit, which then slaughters her and her entire family. The monks who take the creature in called him Brother Paulus. Those who meet it in the woods call it beast. He calls himself something else entirely.

    Summary

“And you run that farm all by yourself?” Sanji hears said shopkeep, an older man with a low voice, say suspiciously.

“Oh, no, no!” chimes Usopp, in the tone he uses when he is deep, deep into bullshitting, “not by myself! I run it with my brother, of course!”

The shopkeep folds his arms over his chest. “A brother, huh?”

“Yeah, brother! In fact, here he is now!”

Sanji has just enough time to process the words before a familiar arm slings around his shoulder, and he's physically pulled into the charade. He goes with it easily and leans into his friend without thinking much—this is a fairly standard motion, one practiced nearly every day on the Merry. He raises his visible eyebrow at Usopp.

Usopp grins a grin at Sanji which screams, ‘roll with it.’ He says, “We were just talking about you!”

Or: Plotless fluff in which Usopp drags Sanji into some improv.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We can’t wait until we can say Happy Hunger Games in earnest (only another month!), but in the meantime, we are celebrating the best moment of Games from years past. Make sure you also check out our list of the most iconic final showdowns and our favorite post-victory moments.

What’s on the plate for today? Glad you asked! The Games are all about triumph, but they’re also all about tragedy (which makes those victories even sweeter). Today, we’re looking at 17 final moments from Tributes that we are still thinking about. To make it harder for ourselves, we could only pick one from each Games (so if your favorite didn’t make the cut, that could be why!). Some made us scream, some made us cry, and a few even made us laugh (you’ll see!). Read on!

    A listicle from Capitol Buzzfeed.

Hi! I hope I'm not wrong here, I just signed up for this forum! I'm looking for help with my homework? My teacher said we'd get extra credit if we picked one of the three questions to write an essay about:
    1) What was the life of a Beta Praetor?
    2) What differentiated Athen and Sparta in their treatment of Alphas?
    3) What do myths tell us about the views of Omegas?
And I wanted to pick 3) because I really loved reading about all the myths in class. I figured I could use the myth of ganymede but I kinda don't know how to start the essay? I wanted to start with the beginning of a myth. Wikipedia said the abduction mirrored ancient mating rituals, but I didn't quite get that? So it would be great if someone could help me!
Edit: I don't want anyone to write my essay for me of course!!! I just don't know where to start >.<

oh, fuck. kiddo, please just write about Beta Praetors. Please. For your sake and the sake of all our sanity

“I mean. I supposed it’s not something one talks about? It doesn’t really come up in casual conversation.” Yagi tilts his head, perhaps a bit puzzled. “Is this something I should have told you about? I suppose I could add it to my CV.”

This is the sort of thing that used to drive Shouta completely up the wall, because he would have been sure that it was coming from a place of sarcasm. How could it not be? The Number One Hero looking him directly in the eyes and asking, “should I have put juggling on my teaching CV.”

Unfortunately, as Shouta now knows that Yagi is being 100% percent serious, it’s also now much harder to be annoyed about it.

Yagi Toshinori: man of many talents.

Two bound, wild things kneel before the king, and Shouto wonders how long it will take them to realize that it’s always all about power, with his father.

They are both beaten, injured, probably starving. Even on their knees, the blond one is listing to one side, putting weight on his companion to keep himself upright. The second, whose hair is darker, has blood dripping into his left eye and dirt matted into his curls. He braces himself ramrod straight to keep the blond one from falling over.

They are bent, but not broken. Shouto suspects that will change.

King Todoroki Enji captures the two successors of his greatest rival.

Make no mistake: this is a story about gentleness.

“Maybe this partnership isn’t going to work after all.”

Mirai’s stomach plummets. It is, suddenly, the only thing he can focus on, which is a miracle considering how hurt he is.

He turns his head, slowly, to look at All Might, who is sitting next to his hospital bed. The Number One Hero’s hands are clasped in his lap, and his eyes are locked on his knuckles. He isn’t looking at Mirai. After a moment, Mirai realizes that he won’t look at him.

“W—What?” Mirai will be embarrassed, later, by how he stutters. “What do you mean?”

Early in their days of being a hero-sidekick team, All Might and Sir Nighteye hit a snag.
