“Why have you been avoiding me?” Vi barely says it above a whisper as she lays her forehead against the back of her neck.
Caitlyn tenses, tries to pull away but Vi holds fast, her arms going tight around her middle. “I haven't–”
“Don’t bother lying,” Vi interrupts. Caitlyn opens her mouth to deny it again, but the finality of Vi’s words makes her pause, words stuck in her throat. She tries to swallow them back down but her throat gets tight, the words melting together until it becomes a ball, stuck. Soon her lips are trembling and her nose burns, eyesight going blurry.
