“Oh, Jaybird, he really doesn’t deserve a sweet boy like you,” Roy murmured, his breath hot against the shell of Jason’s ear as he continued drawing slow, hypnotic circles with his thumb around the boy's hip.
A dark, sharp smile cut across Roy's face when he felt the younger one tremble against him. He couldn't help but think of Dick in that moment, a triumphant satisfaction twisting in his chest. Really, Dick. It’s such a shame. It was almost pathetic how Dick kept wasting his chances with this kid. With a sweet boy who would have done absolutely anything for him, who literally worshipped the very ground Dick walked on.
But Dick had hesitated. Dick had walked away. And Roy wasn't going to make the same damn mistake.

He’d spent most of his life after the revival of his death swatting away his eldest brother’s hands every time Dick tried to tether him back to the light. He’d ignore the silent pleas from his other siblings—invitations to the kind of “normal” events he knew, deep down, he still craved.
Foolish boy, he once again insulted himself.
