Leon Kennedy was dangerous for Chris. Everyone knew it. Chris could see the way Jill looked at him disapprovingly after catching him staring for a bit too long at the DSO agent. Claire’s warnings about how ‘you know I love Leon, but…’were burned into his brain. Not that he needed them to point out to him that his infatuation with the younger man was a bad idea. Leon was a shattered mess of trauma, distrust, booze, and sarcasm wrapped up in packaging so pretty it could talk you into enabling him with ease. Leon was an inferno. If Chris got too close, he knew he’d get burned. He’d remind himself that he didn’t want to get his heart broken, force himself to stop thinking about him, and move on with his day.
But then Leon would look at him with those blue eyes wet with unshed tears of frustration. He’d lean against Chris, too drunk to stand on his own. He’d come back from an assignment with his body broken and mind twisted in knots with a desperate need for someone to help him put the pieces back together.
Chris wanted to be that someone.

Turning his face to the side, away from the direct view of the light, he gave a few cautious blinks until his eyes adjusted. After a moment, he carefully looked up, rolling his head into an upright position to look around the room.
It featured two rows of reclined leather chairs, the back row elevated slightly above the front. The right arm of each chair featured a few buttons on a small keypad. It's not jealousy. Adrian is adamant about that. They are actually insisting that it’s not any emotion at all. Not even dislike. They are simply completely uninterested in anything that concerns “the human”.
Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. They acknowledge that Grace and Rocky have a special bond after everything they went through together and also understand that none of that will ever pose a threat to their relationship.
Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. Adrian has told Rocky again and again that they are grateful and happy and wish the alien no ill will. They even helped with the construction of the biodome.
And yet they have no desire to get to know Grace.
