“The pretty man from the fight,” Beomgyu says. “Yeonjun.”
“I don't know. I think he's pretty.”
“Just like Velvet?”
Soobin hums, closing his eyes. It's late. The Pit is dozing off too. He feels a little delirious. “Yeah, just like Velvet.”
Soobin finds himself infatuated with two men at the same time: Yeonjun, the fighter who takes his title as the victor, and Velvet, the stripper from the up-and-coming Red Vice.

The silence bites around his neck, sweeping his hair in the evening air. He thinks about the summer days together, the way their legs tangled against the floor. He thinks about Yeonjun’s eyes, looking at him back, like a given, like he never has to ask.
“You promised I’d see you again,” Soobin says, bitter.

Yeonjun lets out a laugh, dry and exhausted. “Not yet."
“Will you?”
He considers it for a second. Some of his fingertips touch the hair on the back of Soobin’s neck. Absentmindedly. “Maybe."
Soobin has thought about it before, telling him about what he feels. In conversations like this, sometimes he wants to blurt it out: I think I can treat you right. I think I can make it work, the both of us. I think I can close off your wounds with my bare hands, so you can forget everything that has ever hurt you.
Soobin has been in love with Yeonjun for a really long time. Yeonjun doesn’t reciprocate.

“Should we see who Yeonjun wants more?” Soobin says, and Beomgyu pushes his tongue to the back of his teeth. It’s fun hearing that from his mouth, pushing him to compete with him, just like they always do. It’s fun because it’s Soobin.
