Summary
Feeling disappointed, he looks down at his phone and checks the time again. It's 7:23 now and his phone is at 11%. Fuck.
'Ilia?' asks a polite voice coming from far too close for his liking.
Jesus Christ, Ilia snaps his head back up and ends up face-to-face with the guy he just watched get out of the car. Shocked, Ilia lets go of the suitcase's handle so quickly that it almost topples over. The guy catches it before it clatters to the ground.
'Yes?' Ilia says, and then realises it makes him look like he doesn't know his own name. 'I mean, yes, I am,' he rushes to add as he reclaims his suitcase from the stranger's hands. 'Are you-? You're Mikhail, right?'
'Misha, please,' the guy nods and offers him a slightly nervous smile. 'I'm really sorry I'm late. I, uh,' he clasps his hands together in a gesture that looks like a practised way of keeping his anxieties at bay. 'I sent you an email that I'm running late-'
'Oh,' Ilia sighs and finally feels his shoulders relax. So, this wasn't a scam, he thinks as a relieved smile makes its way onto his face.
